TOUR 2022 – STAGE 1

Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation under the auspices of the Presidency, the 57th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey started from the Bodrum district of Mugla.

 

 

The protocol members, including Presidential Personnel and Principles General Manager Bilal Şentürk, Mugla Governor Orhan Tavlı, and Turkish Cycling Federation President Emin Müftüoğlu, gave the start of the stage from Bodrum Pier Square. 167 cyclists from 25 teams participated in the 207-kilometer first stage of the tour.

 

 

The race, which started from the Bodrum district of Mugla, passed Milas and Bafa Lakes and reached the provincial border of Aydin. Leaving the Didim junction behind, the athletes passed over the Buyuk Menderes Bridge and continued in the direction of Soke and Ortaklar. Crossing the İzmir provincial border, cyclists passed through Selcuk and came to Sirince. Entering the provincial border of Aydin again, the athletes finished racing at Kuşadası Port, concluding a path of 207.6 kilometers.

 

 

While 167 riders from 25 teams from 14 countries competed on the first day of the tour, Australian Caleb Ewan from Belgium's Lotto Soudal team finished first with a timing of 4 hours 38 minutes 5 seconds. With this win, Ewan scored his third stage victory in the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey.

 

 

With a margin of 4 milliseconds, Belgian Jasper Philipsen of the Alpecin-Fenix team came in second, while Australian Kaden Alexander Groves of the BikeExchange-Jayco team came in third with a margin of 6 milliseconds.
